Barry, if you post up a venue and set a time for a coffee & bacon butty someone will normally ride out to join you.

From me as the Pan-Clan Webmaster:
As the new membership year approaches, upon renewal you'll be "opted-In" to a new email based messaging system within each area. This is accessed from the Pan-Clan website when you login to the members' area. You can opt-in now if you want to, just log-in and select the 'View Details' option in the left-hand navigation.
If you are currently opted out just click the 'Opt In' button and then a new option will appear at the bottom of the navigation options (Email to Area).
Select the Email option and you'll see a form into which you can enter your message and to the right you'll see the list of current other members who are opted in who will receive it. The emails are sent via a group email address which you'll see as the 'To:' on the form. You'll get a copy of any emails sent too.
This is intended for communicating within an area, especially for those last minute "Hey, it's a nice looking weekend. I'll be at xyz tomorrow for a 10:00 start to head towards ...... Any one who can make it let me know" type messages (or any other ad-hoc type message). If you find it gets too onerous, you can always opt-out.
I have done this as it means you'll always be able to communicate with other, current, members in your area without having to maintain a list of your own. One warning, I haven't got attachments working yet!!
For those of you who live near the border with another area, you can ask to be included in that area's list as well as your own area (up to 3 other areas).
